camps bay schools go green

The week from 26 - 30 July, the pupils and teachers at the Camps Bay Schools have been a little greener than usual. As part of RAK Week (Random Acts of Kindness), besides collecting for various charities and being kind to fellow pupils and colleagues, the schools promoted the ‘Green Skin Initiative’.
Basically they looked at what makes us the same, and how we can celebrate difference rather than fear it. To close the week on Friday, 30 July 2010, everyone was encouraged to wear green and put on green face paint.
At the High School, pupils and teachers dipped their hands into green paint and made their mark on a wall in the school grounds. The pupils were also addressed by Jean-Marie Nkurunziza of Unite as One, an organisation which stands united for safety and justice. Pupils were also encouraged to sign the anti-xenophobia campaign with Unite as One.
